As soon as empire total war loads up and reaches the main menu the computer decides to restart. I have not got the slightest clue why it is doing this! Please help me you clever clever beans!!

I had this once...for me it was a faulty memory stick. If you have two sticks of memory in the machine it might crash when the mem fills up enough to go over to the second stick.

And when memory fails the computer usually reboots.

This would be my guess.

On the other hand it could also be the graphics memory, but that wouldn't really restart your computer, rather just hangs the computer.

First remove the sticks and test if your computer still fails. If it doesn't, new mem stick, if it does it must be something else.

There are stress tests available with which you can test your hardware to see where it fails. Don't know one off the top of my head though. Perhaps something like http://www.passmark.com/products/bit.htm or http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=92
